Alicia Silverstone's 7-year-old tried to make out with her after seeing Clueless
I guess we all wanted to make out with Alicia Silverstone after seeing 1995 cult classic Clueless, so maybe it’s not that weird that her 7-year-old son, Bear Blu, tried to French-kiss his mom the first time he saw the movie. I mean, OK, it’s still kind of weird and borderline Oedipal, but maybe that’s Hollywood, man.
Silverstone was a little worried about taking her son to see Clueless, she told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show this Monday, because she was worried it might not be appropriate for his age. But she gave in and “took him to see it because it’s at the LA cemetery, where they show it for 4,000 people… on a huge screen.” Silverstone also joked to Colbert, “It was very romantic to be laying down with pillows and rosé.” Um. Alicia. Sweetie. You’re not helping things.
That’s when Silverstone dropped the F bomb: French kiss. She told Colbert, “He loved [Clueless], but the one thing he took away from it, aside from all the things I was worried about, was he kept trying to French-kiss me afterward.” Silverstone said Bear’s attempt to romance her was “very sweet.”
An obviously surprised Colbert inquired, “And you said, ‘That is not appropriate?'”
“I just kept my mouth closed!” was Silverstone’s response. “That’s what I did. And I just giggled.”
As if. Oh goodness. Twitter was all, “Um, Alicia?” I mean, Twitter still hasn’t really forgiven her for throwing serious shade at Wonder Woman and only feeding her son a vegan diet (and espousing anti-vaxxing views).
You also may recall that Silverstone pre-chewed food for Bear when he was a toddler and posted video of it online. So… there’s that.
Oh. And then there was the time Alicia said this. Well. Ahem. Nice weather we’re having.
Alicia Silverstone: Clueless or not, we can’t really say. But her intriguing approach to motherhood is definitely never dull.
