Wait, Did Prince George Spill Archie's Name Months Ago?

In case you missed it (we jest, it was impossible to miss), the latest royal baby has arrived. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday, May 6, and the little bundle of joy has been named Archie Harrison — which undoubtedly came as a surprise to betters, who had placed their money on more traditional names such as Alexander, Spencer, James, and Arthur. But one person who may not have been surprised is Archie’s cousin: In an adorable plot twist, it appears that Prince George may have revealed his cousin’s name nearly five months ago.

In January, The Sun reported that a British woman had a chance meeting with Prince George when he asked to pet her dog. “Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it,” she shared. “To my astonishment he said ‘I’m called Archie’ with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely.”

As the anonymous woman noted, kids give themselves nicknames all the time and surely Prince George is no exception — but it’s also entirely possible that he heard the Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussing baby names and took a liking to Archie. (It does have a nice ring to it, after all.)

It’s also possible that Archie is indeed Prince George’s nickname and the Duke and Duchess liked it so much that they chose to give the name to their baby. Your move, royal conspiracy theorists.
