Scheana Shay Reveals 'Biggest Insecurity' Following Daughter Summer's Birth
As a Vanderpump Rules cast member, Scheana Shay is no stranger to sharing her personal life with her fans, including plenty of sweet moments with her 8-month-old daughter, Summer Moon, whom she shares with fiancé Brock Davies. But after receiving negative comments about her hairline on Tuesday night’s episode of Vanderpump Rules, she took to social media to set the record straight.
In an Instagram Story posted on Wednesday, Shay opened up about a common issue she’s experiencing, one she calls her “biggest insecurity”: postpartum hair loss. She shared a screenshot from the episode showing her wearing a high ponytail and one-shoulder dress, and underneath it wrote, “To everyone who has commented on my hairline tonight: this was already my biggest insecurity and legit the only thing I usually would facetune. After having a baby, I have postpartum hair loss.”
Shay explained that she’s been taking hair supplements for a couple of months and her hair “is slowly coming back but I’m also still pumping milk every 3 hours since Summer stopped latching. Not sure if breastfeeding is related to the hair thinning also but it’s happening to me. My hair was coming out in chunks. Next time, think before you comment.”
Hair loss isn’t the only issue she’s faced on her journey to becoming a mother. During Summer’s delivery, her blood pressure spiked to dangerously high levels, and she was diagnosed with preeclampsia, which later developed into HELLP syndrome, a life-threatening complication related to preeclampsia. Shay shared her story in an emotional Instagram post earlier this year.

Though she’s faced some obstacles, that hasn’t dampened the couple’s desire to expand their family, and they have been exploring surrogacy and adoption as options for their second child. Whatever they decide to do, here’s hoping Shay continues to tune out the haters and soak up every moment with her adorable child.
These are some of the reality-TV alumnae we love to follow as they tackle motherhood.
