Kane Brown Is Ready to Be 'Great Dad' Despite Never Having 'Father Figure'
Preparing to be a parent! Kane Brown is getting ready to welcome his baby girl with his wife, Katelyn Jae.
“I think I’m going to be a great dad,” the country singer, 25, told Us Weekly exclusively at the CMT Awards on Wednesday, June 5. “I love kids and I grew up with all females. I’m having a girl. So, I feel like I know most of it. Hopefully I don’t get surprised too much. And I love my dad, but I haven’t really had a father figure … so I’m going to try and do everything that I can to be the best that I can be.”
The “Good as You” singer added: “I’m going to be the spoiler parent. [Jae will] probably be a spoiler too, but we’re going to have boundaries.”
In April, the American Music Award winner announced that the Berklee College of Music grad, 26, is pregnant by posting a sonogram on Instagram. “It’s been so hard keeping this a secret!!!!! But the KB’S ARE GONNA BE PARENTS!!! KB3,” he captioned the social media upload. “IM GONNA BE A DADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Jae shared a video from the pair’s ultrasound appointment at the time. “The coolest day of my life by far,” the Philadelphia native wrote. “I barely could stop laughing / crying to let her get pictures but I am soooooo happy and excited. @kanebrown_music I love you so much & am so excited to have an addition to our family to share our everyday fun, travel & love with.”
Jae, who covered her baby bump in a red wrap dress at the CMT Awards, married Brown in Tennessee in October 2018. “The happy couple tied the knot outside of Nashville this weekend after celebrating earlier in the week with his three American Music Award wins,” his rep told Us at the time.
