Dove Just Launched Super-Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

Since COVID-19 first hit in the U.S., we've seen many changes in our day-to-day lives. We all have to wear face coverings, we're advised to stay six feet apart, and initially, it was nearly impossible to snag paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.

Beauty brands such as Coty Inc., L'Oréal, and Shiseido noticed the lack of hand sanitizer and pivoted to have their factories manufacture it in an effort to do their part to help slow down the spread of the virus. Although it's now a lot easier to get your hands on the germ-killer, demand is still high, and brands are still working hard to make it. The latest to create its own version is Dove, and trust us — it was so worth the wait.

Dove's Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer is available in two sizes: eight ounces ($5) and a travel-size two-ounce bottle ($3). The formula is not just your typical hand sanitizer, meaning it doesn't dry out hands or smell like a cheap shot of tequila (you know exactly what I'm talking about). It's made of 61 percent ethyl alcohol, which meets the levels recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and it is mixed with a moisturizing blend of omega-3, vitamin E, and echium seed oil to leave your hands soft and hydrated.

The texture and look of the sanitizer are different, too. Dove's formula isn't clear like other hand sanitizers; instead, it's a milky consistency, kind of like if you mixed a hand sanitizer and a hand lotion together.

It also comes in three scents: Lavender & Chamomile, which is perfect for calming nerves, Shea Butter & Warm Vanilla — a nutty, earthy vibe — and a fragrance-free Deep Moisture version.

We are in no way saying that using hand sanitizer is more effective than hand-washing — you should always opt to use soap and water whenever possible. However, if it's not available, this alcohol-based gel is the way to go.
