Beiersdorf Appoints New CEO

PARIS — Stefan De Loecker has been named chairman of Beiersdorf AG’s executive board starting Jan. 1, the company said Monday.
He will succeed Stefan F. Heidenreich, who steps down from the chief executive officer's position on Dec. 31. Heidenreich had been appointed ceo in 2012.
De Loecker joined the maker of Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie products in 2012, first as senior vice president Near East. Then in 2014, he was named to the executive board and also took charge of the Americas on April 1, 2016. The executive was appointed deputy chairman of the executive board on July 1.
Prior to that, he held positions at Tesco plc and Nestlé Group.
“The supervisory board thanks Mr. Heidenreich for years full of energetic and great work, for a strategic breakthrough in ‘Blue’ and ‘Beyond,’ and for his contribution toward a succession and successor,” said professor Reinhard Pöllath, chairman of Beiersdorf’s supervisory board, in a statement, referring to the company’s strategy to encompass additional goals set out in 2017.
Pöllath added: “The supervisory board appreciates the accomplishments of Mr. De Loecker for growth and renewal. The supervisory board strongly supports the proposed concentration on consumers and consumer benefits, skin care, digitalization, internationalization and sustainable growth.”
Beiersdorf, which is based in Hamburg, registered sales of 7.1 billion euros in 2017.
