Emily Skye Unexpectedly Gave Birth At Home Without Any Medication or Assistance
The fitness influencer has a “new appreciation” for her body after she unexpectedly gave birth to her son Izaac at home in June 2020.
“I didn’t know the body could actually do that,” Skye told PEOPLE of how she pushed out her newborn all on her own, without any medication or assistance.
Izaac was due on July 3 but instead made his grand entrance on June 18 — on his big sister Mia’s play mat.
“I knew by my partner’s face the head was coming out, he had gone white,” Skye said of her partner Declan, who was told by the EMT over the phone at the time to check if he could see baby Izaac’s head. “He told the lady on the phone, ‘Yeah, I can see his head. It’s half out!’ Meanwhile, I’m roaring and my daughter Mia is screaming in horror and ended up running off and hiding because she was terrified,” Skye shared.
The next thing Skye remembers is medical personnel rushing into her home, and that Izaac was already “three quarters out.”
“I delivered him on the ground,” Skye said. “I felt like I wanted to be up on my knees, but they needed me to be on my back and I did a lot of breathing to get me through it.”
After arriving at the hospital, Skye and baby Izaac were “checked out” as Skye had lost a lot of blood during labor. Once she was settled, she remembers having an unforgettable moment that she will cherish forever.
“I went into the bathroom for the first time to have my shower and I saw myself in the mirror. I bursted into tears because I was so happy with what my body had done. I was talking to my body, saying: ‘You’re amazing. Thank you so much for doing this, for birthing my son.’ I just had this new appreciation for my body that I’ve never had before.”

Bode Miller and His Mom Filled in for the Midwives During Wife Morgan’s Unexpectedly Quick Home Birth
The Olympic skier jumped into action when his wife went into an unexpectedly quick labor at home on Nov. 8. 2019.
“The birth story was actually one of the more crazy things that I’ve ever experienced… none of the midwives actually made it on time,” Bode revealed on the Today show. “They started coming over and by the time they got there, me and my mom were both holding the babies.”
Luckily, Bode’s mom used to be a midwife — but the pair still weren’t exactly prepared. “She hadn’t delivered babies in 20-plus years, and she never delivered twins,” Bode explained. “We’re both pretty relaxed and pretty casual, but we were certainly not qualified to be doing an unassisted home delivery of twins.”
Despite their inexperience, the duo managed to successfully deliver two healthy identical twin boys during the quick labor.
“It was just so amazing to have it go as spontaneously but as well as it did,” Morgan said. “It was pure magic.”

“We didn’t use doctors, we used a midwife, so I delivered both of my kids,” he said. “The first time I didn’t know, I was shocked that I was part of it. I thought I was going to hold the leg, tell her to hopefully breathe and I wasn’t ready when I took my position. This time I was a little bit more prepared and got in and got her out immediately. As soon as her head breached I reached in there, grabbed her by the cheeks and got her out. Hilarie was over it, so it was awesome. I got to deliver both my kids, for real, it was cool.”

It was too late to go to a hospital, so the actor called Ryan’s midwife, who told him what to do through the phone. “The midwife’s like, [soothing voice] ‘That’s fantastic, just wait for Mommy to push again. Brown continued: “And sure enough, my wife pushed a second time, [and] his body just wriggled out. I had a hand on the back of his head and on his bum. He cried — [makes crying sound] — immediately, so I didn’t have to rub him to make sure that he was breathing.”
